JIM VISION

Town Quay, Cowes, PO31 7AS

Free to watch working across the weekend. Saturday and Sunday, 10.00am - 4.00pm

Jim Vision is a visionary artist and painter of large-scale murals whose personal drive has changed the face of walls in East London since 2005. A leading protagonist of contemporary street art culture Jim’s talent has taken him all across the UK and from Buenos Aires to Tahiti, Miami to Thailand. Jim’s subject matter often features thought-provoking issues, both environmental and political, intertwined with fantastical often apocalyptic visions of the past, present and future.

He has been invited to events as diverse as O’nou festival in Tahiti, Banksy’s Cans2 festival in Leake street tunnel Waterloo, MuTATE Britain at Cordy House in Shoreditch, Westbank gallery’s Gonzo Exhibition, and even charity auctions at the Houses of Parliament.

He splits his time as art director of Endoftheline producing art commissions for a variety of clients like Netflix and Our Planet, whilst pursuing independent art and community projects. Curating exhibitions from The Bad Note, the Eve of Destruction and multiple group shows that have been pivotal in showcasing a broad spectrum of the graffiti and street-art world, featuring emerging talent who are now globally known, including Nychos, Aryz, Bom.k, Inkie, Will Barras and Mr Jago.

Based in London, he grew up in South Wales, following a creative path through school that led to studying time-based new media but always painting in his spare time. His journey took him to Bow and Shoreditch in the early 2000’s where the residence of Young British Artists, pop up galleries, squat raves, and a glut of empty and derelict buildings paved the way for an underground art to grow.

Happiest painting in the street leaving a trail of colourful graffiti across the world, Jim has consistently pushed the frontier of large-scale murals in the UK. His local stomping ground is proof of his endeavour with artworks notable for their eye-catching, distinctive style adorning unexpected spots, from street corners to rooftops.

Jim and his partner Matilda invest in an on-going public art mission, one that has been instrumental in carving out new legal mural space for artists and hosting festivals like The International Meeting of Styles in London to put alternative street and graffiti art on an inclusive, public platform. Their project works with local councils and landlords to encourage free expression by artists and bring colour and inspiration to communities.
